In some ways it feels like this controversy is stuck on repeat. In other way each week brings a clearer undeniable bright line dividing just how far laughable claims of plausible deniability can really go.
Sometimes I wonder whether even if the Ape founders stood on stage with racist salutes and said directly to the cameras exactly what they believe and how much they are taking the entire web3, NFT vibe industry for a ride, wether we would still give them a pass when yet again they said they are just doing it for the lols and don’t know why everyone’s reacting so harsh.
Why not just be up front and state specifically why you put such awful imagery in the collection and why you claim to be “pro-web3” whilst using all of the old corporate anti creative freedom weaponry when you file lawsuits hurling bags and lawyers at anyone standing in your way?
What’s great about the recent BAYC actions is that it’s becoming impossible for anyone really to keep making excuses for them.
